It was a rough year for the Twins’ faithful, finishing with a disappointing 70-92 record for a fourth-place finish in the AL Central, and lowering their win total from 2024 by 12 games when they finished 82-80. The one noteworthy thing to point out regarding the Twins’ 2025 season is that they actually did go on a 13-game winning streak in May, which actually had them in a pretty good spot heading into the All-Star break being only 2 games back of the .500 mark (47-49). But unfortunately, a year full of injuries and them being major sellers at the trade deadline (trading 10 players from the big league roster), it pretty much sealed the deal that they were waving the white flag on 2025.

Top Pitcher – Joe Ryan

In a year where the record was not in their favor, the starting rotation didn’t actually fare out too badly, with each guy that was a part of the rotation finishing with positive WAR seasons. But it was Joe Ryan who stood out the most in a season where veteran Pablo Lopez went down with an injury. Ryan stepped up and registered his best season to date, putting up a career-high 4.5 WAR season where he started 30 games, had a 13-10 record, 3.42 ERA (PB), 1.04 WHIP, and 194 strikeouts, across 171.0 innings pitched (PB). All of this to go along with his 1st All-Star Game selection and take home the Twins’ 2025 Top Starter Award.

Top Reliever – Jhoan Duran

Despite being dealt at the trade deadline to the Phillies, it was still their former flamethrower, Jhoan Dura, who led the Twins’ bullpen in 2025. Duran was 1/3 of the Top 5 Twins’ relievers that was dealt at the trade deadline along with Griffin Jax (Rays) and Louis Varland (Blue Jays), so although I try to pick guys that were with the team the whole season the Twins’ didn’t really leave me a choice and neither did Duran as just in his time with the Twins (before being traded) he accumulated a 2.3 WAR, appeared in 49 games for a total of 49.1 innings pitched to which he earned a save in 16 of them (went on to finish with a career best 32), had 2.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and got 53 of his season total 80 strikeouts. Even with being dealt, I felt Duran was their biggest reliever, which is why he is taking home the Twins’ 2025 Reliever of the Year Award.

Top Hitter – Byron Buxton

This is one that I don’t feel was even close, as it was Twins’ veteran Byron Buxton that seemed to lead this offence all season long. Buxton finished atop the Twins with a 4.9 WAR (tying a career high), which was 2.9 total points higher than the next position player to play the entire season with the Twins in Luke Keaschall, who finished with a 2.0 WAR (HM: Despite being traded at the deadline, Harrison Bader accumulated a 2.7 WAR with the Twins in 2025). Adding to that, Buxton set career highs in pretty every notable stat category other than stolen bases, such as plate appearances (542), at-bats (488), runs (97), hits (129), home runs (35), RBI’s (83), and in regards to the stolen bases he was only 5 shy of his previous best finishing with 24. All of this production from Buxton was enough to earn him his 2nd All-Star game appearance and his 1st Silver Slugger Award, which made it pretty easy to name him the Twins' 2025 Top Hitter.

Top Rookie – Luke Keaschall

Perhaps I spoiled it by mentioning him above, but it's going to be 2B Luke Keaschall taking him the Twins Rookie of the Year honors for 2025. It was May 18th when Keaschall got the call, and he certainly did not take it for granted. Even though he did miss some time due to injury, he still exceeded his expectations. He appeared in a total of 49 games, and as I mentioned above, finished with a 2.0 WAR. He slashed an impressive .302/.382/.445 collecting 55 hits in his first 207 bug league at-bats, 14 of them being doubles and 4 homers, he came around to score 25 times, well driving in 28 RBI’s himself and going 14/17 in on stolen base attempts. Despite his total games being limited, Keaschall made enough of an impact to finish 9th in AL Rookie of the Year voting, and that was just about enough for me for him to be crowned the Twins 2025 Rookie of the Year honors as well.

MVP: Byron Buxton

Next Team: Pittsburgh Pirates
